South Dakota, Rapid City Aug 28 - Sept 4 2015

Rushmore Shadows Resort, near Rapid City, South Dakota. We will spend a week touring the Black Hills.  The campground is quite nice, and easy to get to all the places we want to tour.

Rushmore Shadows Resort, near Rapid City, South Dakota.

My sister Marilyn came to visit us while she was in Rapid City.  It was good to see her again.

Chris, Stacia, and Emma Wakeley.  Stacia is our niece from Rapid City.
Kay at Mount Rushmore.

Some young man offered to take our picture.  He was touring the USA on his motorcycle.

Mountain Goat,  They live on the mountain east of the four faces.  We see them each time we visit the monument.

Sylvan Lake, along the needles hwy.  We have to stop here each time we are in the Black Hills.

I love this wooden bridge.

One of the two tunnels on the needles highway.  No problem getting the truck through.

You can see the tunnel we just came through.

We stopped to do some hiking and test out my new knee.
Kay looking happy to do some hiking also.

A view of some of the needles

The next three pictures show you why they call this the needles highway.

Crazy Horse Monument.  They have been working on this for many years. The black figure in the lower left of the picture shows what it will look like when it is finished.

This winery is in Hill City, SD

There were some very different wines to buy here.  We bought four of them. Kickass rhubarb, Uncle Bob's rhubarb, a pear wine, and one other I can't remember.  That is what happens when one gets to my age.

The campground had a nice spa, which we used several times.

This is a kitten my cousin Jan adopted.

Jan and her new kitten.  She said the kitten is only about 2 weeks old.

Bill, Jan's husband cutting Kay's hair.  He did mine also.

The sign says it all.  We drove about 70 miles from the campground to tour the park.

The following pictures are in the park.

Kay getting some flower shots.

She got this sunflower with a bee on it.  My favorite type of flower picture.

My truck frog

One of the last stops in the park.

Had to take the dogs for a walk.

The end
