Washington, Fall City Aug 14 - 21

Our next stop is Tall Chief RV Resort in Fall City, WA.  On the drive down we made a stop in Bellingham to get the new refrigerator installed.  There were many trees in this resort, but we managed to find a site where we could get all three of the satellites with our dish antenna.  The blackberries in the area were very plentiful.  We picked 19 lbs one day and made jam, and a couple days later we picked 12 lbs and made more jam.  One of the days we drove into Seattle to do a Greyline bus tour and visit the Space Needle.  We also did a lot of touring around the area.  We would come back to this campground again if we are ever in the area.

Fall City, Washington
Kay picking black berries
Marty also picking black berries.  We picked 19 lbs that day.
Making jam over the grill.  It worked very well and kept the mess out of the RV.
Looking good
We canned 12 pints of jam from this batch, and froze about 8 lbs.
This flower stand was along side the road where we were picking.  Kay had to buy a bouquet of flowers.
Not a bad for $10
The Double Decker bus we toured Seattle on.
The  Space Needle
A shot of the crowed waiting to get into the Hemp Fest.  I wonder what they are going to do there?

The EPM Museum (formerly known as Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame is a museum dedicated to the history and exploration of popular music, science fiction and pop culture located in Seattle, WA  The building shape is a representation of smashed guitars.  It is a very strange building, but I really liked it.

Some of the shops along the bus tour.
Kay enjoying the ride
I thought it was enjoyable also
I don't know what this was suppose to represent, but thought it interesting,
This tree sculpture was made entirely of aluminum.
We stopped and had lunch at one of the pier restaurants
I finally got my bread bowl of clam chowder
Seattle fire fighting boat
The farmer's Pike Street Market.  We didn't buy one thing it was just so packed with people.
Every kind of fish you could want in this market
You could get it whole or by the chunk
The vegetables were very fresh
Also about any kind of fruit you could think of was here.
A view of downtown Seattle from the bus
They told us that there were about 121 Starbucks in Seattle.
Looking up at the Space Needle
The next four pictures are of Seattle taken from the Space Needle

Looking down at the parking lot about two blocks you can see our truck.  Cool
I was happy in this picture, but the camera could not frogger that out
At the bottom of the Space Needle was this flower garden.  All the flowers were made of glass and light up at night.  We didn't visit because they were having a private event that day.  Someday Kay would like to come back and visit.
Kay had to get this picture of Safeco Field
Snoqualmie Falls is one of Washington state’s most popular scenic attractions. More than 1.5 million visitors come to the Falls every year. At the falls, you will find a two-acre park, gift shop, observation deck, the Salish Lodge and the famous 270 foot waterfall.
We are happy campers.

Washington, Birch Bay Aug 7 - 14

Back in the good old USA.  We crossed the border at Sumas, Washington.  It only took us about 15 min to do it.  We had heard of 2-3 hour waits to get across.  Guess we are just living right.  Our first stop in the USA is at Birch Bay.  It is located close to the border near Vancouver, BC.

Now the fun part of the new campground begins.  When we got the camper parked, and Kay opened the door,  The Odor of ammonia was so strong you could not go into the camper.   Oops, that means the refrigerator sprang a leak somewhere along the road.  We had just gone to the store to restock the fridge because you can't bring any meats, or fresh fruits and vegetables across the border.  We ordered the new refrigerator but could not have it put in until the day we moved to Fall City.  We packed all the freezer stuff in the big cooler and used the fridge as an icebox.  We used lots of blocks of ice that week.   All said and done, it was just another adventure on out continuous full time travels.

 Birch Bay, Washington

This was a good sight to see.  We were looking forward to getting back to the USA.  Not saying our time in Canada was not great.  We had an awesome time, and will go back soon.

We drove up Semiahmoo Parkway to the end of the road to find a kayak outfitter.  Semiahmoo Resort and Gulf Club are on this point of land.  I don't know if they still use this old rusty water tower but it did make for an interesting picture.

The dock at the end of the road.  Semiahmoo Bay is on the left, and Drayton Bay is on the right.

Looking at the harbor in Semiahmoo Bay.

We took Max and Zoe for a walk along the water.

Max always has to have his nose close to the ground hunting for whatever he can find.
Kay's flowers.

We took a drive through the countryside and stopped in Bellingham.  The old courthouse in Bellingham WA   is now a museum.

This mural was on the building next to the old courthouse.

One of the hiking trails we took the dogs on.

There are a lot of potatoes grown in this part of the state.

The swimming pool at the campground was very relaxing.

Kay enjoying the afternoon sun.

Marty also enjoyed the sun a little too much.  Got a bit red.

Dal and Donna Smith from Mission BC were camped next to us.  What a wonderful couple.
Donna's sister Richelle Hoisington and her grandson.  We always meet such great people on our travels.  The Hoisinton's and the Smith's are from near Vancouver, BC.
