Arizona, Fort Mohave Mar 10-17

Avi Casino Campground, NV is across the Colorado River from Fort Mohave, AZ  This stop was not a pre-planned stop.  We were originally going to Lake Mead for a week, but the wind was blowing too hard.
And it blew hard all week except for the first day we put the boat on Lake Mohave.  We left the boat moored at the marina and planned on going back out the next day.  Once again the wind was out of the north about 25 mph.  So Dick and I drove the truck up to pick up the boat.  What a hard time we had just to get the boat out of the marina.  But with Dick's vast skills of boating, we got it loaded onto the trailer.  There it sat for the rest of the week.  The Campground was a bit expensive, but the sites were very wide and had a lot of room to park the boat between the two campers.

Dick and Bonnie's pontoon Boat hooked to my truck.  It was nice to have wide sites to fit everything in.
The boat ramp at Kathrine's Landing.  It was located on Lake Mohave just north of Bullhead City.

And off we go on a day trip on Lake Mohave.

We took our two dogs, Max and Zoe on the boat ride with us.

They both are always looking for something.

Bonnie and Rascal enjoying the fresh air.

This is Rascal, he is a younger brother to Maxwell.

Zoe soaking in some rays.

Maxwell always on the lookout for something.

Yes we both enjoy being on the boat.

A shot of the shoreline.

What can I say,  Life is good.

Captain Dick and Marty the second mate.

More of the shoreline.

My favorite part of the trip,  LUNCH  Bonnie always has a lot to eat, so I will eat it.

Back to the marina after a good day on the water.

Bonnie and Kay back at the campers.

Our adventure to the little town of Oatman, AZ., on the famous Historic HWY 66.  A former mining town in the Black Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona.  Located at an elevation of 2,710 feet (830 m), it began as a tent camp soon after two prospectors struck a $10 million gold find in 1915, though the area had been already settled for a number of years. Oatman's population grew to more than 3,500 in the course of a year. The 86433 ZIP Code Tabulation Area had a population of 128 at the 2000 census.

Oatman is famous for its many donkeys that roam the main street.  Here is Dick and one of his friends.

I don't know who she was, but I put my arm around her anyway.

Kay making friends with old crocked ear.

Bonnie bought some feed for the donkeys.  Here she is feeding one of them.

This big white one wanted something to eat also.

Bonnie did not feed her, so she started to chase Bonnie.  Run Bonnie Run.

One of the local homes in town.

There was a gun fight in the middle of the street.  This guy was the bank robber.

This gunman was the bank robber's robber.  Here he is shooting the bank robber.

The bank robber

Now this was interesting,  This guy is holding the bag of money.  He shot the bank robber's- robber.  He is know known as the bank robber's - robber's - robber.  They put on a good show.

Oatman was named in the posthumous honor of Olive Oatman, a young Illinois girl who was kidnapped by (presumably) Yavapai Indians and forced to work as a slave. She was later traded to Mohave Indians who adopted her as a daughter and had her face tattooed in the custom of the tribe. She was released in 1855 near the current site of the town.

There ain't much I can say about this picture, but we had a good time with Dick and Bonnie.
