California, Klamath Sept 27 - Oct 4

Klamath River Resort, Klamath, California. This is our first stop in California.  What a nice campground.  We parked the camper so the back window was looking at the river.  Met a bunch of nice people here.  I talked about the guy that cut my hair in Florence that was coming down here to fish.  Well I did call Frank and he stopped his boat at the dock of the campground.  He then dug out of his cooler a salmon about 36 inches long.  He took his knife and sliced off half of one side for me.  I in turn gave him a jar of the homemade blackberry jam Kay and I made.  He was happy and so was I.   I cleaned up the Salmon and vacuumed packed it into three 14 oz. packages and put it into the freezer.

You can see the colorful windsock on the back of our camper, which is hidden behind the tree.

Birds on the rock
Kay and the dogs doing what they all three like to do.
We stopped at this Visitor Center to talk to the people about area. We also saw a movie on the redwoods at the center.  Most all the visitor centers we stop at have movies that talk about the area.  We enjoy doing that.
There are some very big redwood trees in this area.  Kay is standing by on of the little ones.
Had to show you this Banana Slug.  It was chomping away on this green thing.
There are a lot of Elk in this area.  Here are a couple of bulls getting ready to do their thing.
It looks like I am not happy, but I am.  Just waiting for my order of ribs to get to the table.  We were told that the Steelhead lodge had the best food in the area.  So we had to try it out.  They were some of the best ribs I had ever eaten.  Ordered enough to bring some home it ended up being enough for two more meals.

This is a strange story.  We went into the gift shop to look around,  where we spotted some Native America flutes.  The lady behind the counter wanted to know if I knew how to play and told her yes.  She asked me to play one for her.  As I was playing a group of people started stopping and asked me a lot of questions about the flutes.  So I played a few more tunes on one and the guy in the picture with me bought it.  Another guy from  New Zealand was also there and wanted me to play another one for him.  He also liked it and bought it.  In a mater of  a half hour, I sold two of the flutes for the store.  Of course I did not get any commission out of the deal, but I did turn two more people into flute players.
This is a wood carving outside of one of the casinos we stopped at.
Kay getting ready to head up the Klamath River for a nice ride.
The river was very beautiful.
What can I say about this picture.  ROCKS
And more Rocks
Kay got this Blue Heron picture.
A view of the river about 4 miles up stream from the campground.
Pelicans and Gulls resting along side of the river.
I took our park neighbor John kayaking one day.  Here we are at the mouth of the Klamath River.  You can see the ocean waves coming in.  John and his wife Bunnie are from Colorado also.
If you look real hard, you can see Me and John coming up the river.  Kay took this picture.
Here we are almost up to the dock.  The river got very calm.
