Mandan, North Dakota |
Our campsite at the Colonial Motel and campground. It was not the greatest one we stopped at in ND, but served its purpose. |
ND Heritage Center & State Museum entrance. |
These round rocks are called canon ball rocks, They come from the western part of the state along the Canon Ball River. |
The following are an examples of the many displays in the museum. We could have spent many hours going through the display rooms. It was a wonderful museum. |
From the Heritage Center we walked over to the North Dakota State Capital Building. |
The building is 19 stories high. On the 18th floor is an observatory room that goes all the way around the building. |
The main entry is 36 feet high. The lights hanging from the ceiling were designed to look like heads of wheat. |
This one tells it all. |
Some of the seating along the hall of the legislative wing of the building. |
The Congress chambers. They only meet every other year for 88 days. |
The Senator's chambers. They also meet every other year for 88 days. |
Taking a little rest on the observation floor which is the 18th floor. |

On the ground floor again, but Kay would not let me use the little security car. |
This statue of Sacajawea |
Kay loved this big cottonwood tree. |
We stopped at a farmers market to get some good sweet corn. We had some of it for supper, and it was sooooo very good. |
We took a tour around the park on this wagon, pulled by a brand new Case tractor. |
