Lake Metigoshe State Park is located about 15 miles north of Bottineau, ND in the Turtle Mountains. Part of the lake is in Canada. Our campsite was one of the best of the State Parks of ND so far.

Lake Metigoshe State Park, North Dakota |

On our way to the Lake Metigoshe, Kay wanted me to stop so she could take pictures of the sunflowers. Saw many fields of them driving across North Dakota. |
One can always take this lady out of the country, but you can never take the country out of this lady. That's why I love this Nebraska Lady. |
Had to have this picture of one of the North Dakota grain elevators. |
Zoe and Max in their pen at the campground. |
Mushroom |
This campsite was very peaceful, with lots of trees and shade. |
As soon as we got here and let the dogs out of the truck, they spotted a squirrel going up this tree. After we got the pen up, Max wanted to climb up the tree to find it. |
One of the many little fishing docks along the lake. |
This is School House Lake. |
Kay got this frog along the shore of School House Lake. |
There are a lot of deer in this area. This little one just stood there and let Kay take pictures of it. |
We took a drive up to Manitoba, it is one of the Canadian Provinces we've not visited before.
Boissevain, Manitoba One of the little towns we went through on our touring of the countryside. There were big grain elevators in each of the little towns both in Manitoba and North Dakota. They grow a lot of wheat in this part of Manitoba.

On the way back from Manitoba we stopped to visit the International Peace Garden. Very beautiful place. |
This is leading up to the Peace Chapel. |

We took the dogs for a walk around the Chapel grounds. Zoe smelling the flowers. |
Max was glad to get out of the pickup. |
The next pictures are just some of the beautiful flowers on the grounds. |
Within the chapel there were many plaques with saying, this was our favorite. |
Marty had to take a picture of this little guy. |
The main building at the International Peace Gardens. |

Me in the Cactus garden |
Kay on the way out of the cactus garden. It was just too warm in there to stay long. |
Just a view in the Metigoshe State Park |
Spotted this duck family on one of the little ponds in the park |
Getting ready to go kayaking on the Lake Metigoshe |
Bad hair day |
First time in the kayak since surgery. It was easy to get in the kayak, but a bit more difficult to get out. Was glad that I could do it. |
We kayaked with a couple that were in the campground too. Joanna is on the left, Kay on the right. |
Marty and Bill in the distance, Joanna in the foreground |
Lots of cattails. |
We found more frogs. Usually it's lots of turtles |
Finally found the turtle. |
Bill, Kay and Joanna enjoying the day. |
We met Bill and Joanna at the campground. It was good to have someone to help me in and out of my kayak for the first time after my knee replacement. |
This is Tommy the Turtle, it is the mascot for the town of Bottineau, ND. We heard not all the locals like him here but we thought he was pretty cute. |
One evening Kay and I went to the speedway for the dirt track races. This was the last race of the year and there were not very many cars that raced that day. |
No. 71 lost its rear wheel just in front of the stands. I was not quick enough with my camera to get the wheel rolling down the track alongside the car. |
Pulling #71 off the track so the race could continue. |
About two laps later the four cars left in the race tangled up in turn 4. |
Marty doing a little wax job on the truck. Black trucks are very hard to keep clean and shinny. |
