Kay ordered a prime rib, and I ordered a great big t-bone. Both were fabulous.
The best part is chewing the bone.
Cadillac ranch is just west of Amarillo. We were not too impressed. Thought it would be a lot more cars, there was only about 10.
One of the visitor centers at Palo Duro Canyon State Park about 25 miles from Amarillo. Palo Duro Canyon is 120 miles long and 800 feet deep. It is the second largest canyon in the United States. The canyon was formed less than 1 million years ago when the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River first carved it's way through the southern high plains. It was a very beautiful drive through the canyon.
Looking at the canyon at the Visitors Center.
Another look down the canyon.
Some kind of campsite.
The rocks were very red.
There was a lot of rain the day before we got to the park. With the type of sandy soil, it plugged up the culverts under the road. This worker wasn't playing in the river, he is using a pressure hose to get the sand out of the culvert. I think he is having lots of fun anyway.
We got to drive through the water on the the road.
The landscape was quite unusual in the canyon.
This stone building is a cabin that can be rented. Would have liked to see what the inside looked like.
Whip Tail lizard
Typical look at the floor of Palo Duro Canyon
Good size cactus.
Me and the gang taking a break in the shade, while waiting for Kay to come back from taking pictures shown above.

Great pictures. Did you know that President Bush takes the Wounded Warriors bike riding in Palo Duro Canyon? We loved the canyon also. Continue to enjoy your travels. Thanks for sharing.
