Michigan, Kalamazoo Sept 27 - Oct 6, 2011

Our last stop in Michigan is at the American Campground near Kalamazoo.  It rained most of the time we were here.  Gave us some quiet down time.  One day when it was nice, I took the kayak to some small lakes near the campground, but did not get any fish.  We did do some touring around the area.  Our friend Elizabeth and her family came for dinner one day.  Was good to see her again.  If you ever get a chance to tour the Great Lakes, Michigan is a wonderful state to do it from.  There is more lake shore mileage than any other state in this very beautiful country.

Some color is starting to show on the trees when we got there.
This is the color of the trees as we were leaving the campground.

We came across these swans swimming in a little creek while touring the countryside.

Kay, Max and Zoe, Zoe has to always be the one up the highest.

The campfire went out, but I have lots of wood for the next one.

It was a little chilly at the campground, so we put Zoe's little sweater on her.  She gets cold so easy.
We saw a sign for a ski run, so just had to check it out.  It was not very high, but it did
have a chair lift.  Hey, at least they try here in Michigan.
This is one of the little lakes I fished.

There were a lot of swans on the lake.  With the kayak, I could get very close.

This is a shot of one taking off.  I enjoyed watching them.

One of the many blueberry farms we passed on out tour of the local area.  At least we think they are blueberry fields.

We drove to the little town of South Haven on the east shore of Lake Michigan.  We
had to make one more trip to see the Great Lakes.  The rail you see in the picture was used to hold a little car as they went along to  light the gas lamps along the pier
