Washington, Copalis Beach Sept 4-11

Copalis Beach RV Resort was one of our favorite stops in Washington, and the dogs favorite beach.  It was a short walk from the campground to the beach.  But the best thing about the beach here is you can drive for miles on it. We took the dogs out on the beach and turned them loose to run and chase birds. Talk about a couple of happy puppies, boy did they love that. I also had a chance to fly my kites again.  It had been a long time since I did that.  We have marked this stop as a very good one to return to.

On the way to the new campground, we had to stop and eat lunch.  We found this little restaurant along the road.  Food was good, but the name was better.

Some of the rusty tractors  displayed.

My shaggy Zoe before her haircut.
Picking more blackberries for the oatmeal breakfast.  We are really going to miss them when we run out .  Hopefully we can find more at our next stop.
Kay getting as high as she can.
Zoe getting her new haircut.
I did not get the first letter (I)  but you all know what I mean.
This was an amazing beach.  I could drive for miles, and there were no people around.  I loved it.
Getting one of my kites ready to fly.
This is how to fly a kite.
One of the single line kites I put up.
Another of the single line kites.  The next few kites we found already flying when we got to the beach.

Maxwell taking a break after running for a while on the beach.
Zoe also taking a break.  She loves to chase birds.
Zoe also likes to dig for clams.
Zoe in action
This is one wet dog.
You can't go to the beach without playing ball.
Another very wet dog.
Max checking out the kelp that washed up on the beach.  He has to check out everything on the beach.
Here is Zoe herding her birds.
They are both full speed ahead.
Each time we get close to a beach, both dogs get very excited.
Had to use my Big GMC to pull out this Dodge that got stuck in the sand.  It is nice to have a 4WD .  I had to use it several times myself to get out of soft sand.

Washington, Olympia Aug 28 - Sept 4

We are now starting our move south.  We're at the American Heritage Campground in the little town of Tumwater, Washington just south of Olympia.  The campground was very nice but with lots of trees so we could not get any TV.  There were three casinos in the area and we visited all of them.  We went to the Friday seafood buffet at the Lucky Eagle Casino, and it was one of the best I have had in a long time.

 Olympia, Washington
This is the launch point on the Black River.  This river had a very slow current, so we will also kayak back to this point.
The river at this point was not very wide.
This will be an easy kayak trip.  We will go down the river for about 2 hours and than come back.
There were many lily pads in this part of the river.
I don't think this beaver dam is doing much good.
Kay taking her time paddling down the river.
The shoreline was covered with a lot of grass and trees.  The road was not that far away but we couldn't see it at all.
Waiting for Kay to catch up to me.
This was the widest part of the river.
The old bridge pilings made for an interesting picture.
 Of course, Kay found flowers.

We did pass a couple of guys fishing.
On the way back up river the wind was at our backs.  I used my shirt to make a sail.  It did not work too well.  Will have to get a real sail someday.
Grilled pork chops for supper.
One night we went to the South Sound Speedway in Rochester WA.  These little cars are called Legends.  They were very fast little cars, and fun to watch.
There were many of the mini stock cars racing this night. Lots of crashes and spin outs made for a great night at the track.
Got to take this shot of the pit area.
This is Nicole, she and her family sat by us.
