Alabama, Langston November 7 - 21

Our first stop in Alabama is at Mountain Lakes Resort, near Langston.  It is located on Guntersville Lake, which is part of the Tennessee River System.  I would guess the lake is at least 75 miles long.  From where our camper is located in the resort I can look out the back window and have a lovely view of the lake.

There was this green slimy moss growing all over this part of the lake.  It made fishing very difficult.  In fact I have not caught a single fish yet.

 We watched eagles nesting in the old tree on the island across the lake. This picture was taken with Kay's new camera that has a 14X zoom.

 We took a drive up to Little River Canyon National Preserve.  It is located in the north eastern corner of Alabama.  Maxwell and I at one of the overlooks.  It was a really beautiful place.

 We love to travel the back country roads where ever we stay. 

Now you don't see too many of these emus in the woods of Alabama.

The other thing about driving the back country roads, is seeing stuff like this.

 The deer were not afraid of Kay and the dogs getting close to them.

Max is also very shaggy.  The last time they have been to the groomer was in Denver.

 High Falls Park on Town Creek.  It is located just north of the campground.

The gang on their way back across the bridge.  We were really surprised to find this place.  It was so peaceful.  Got to walk down on the rocks under the bridge.  They were very smooth and flat.  Would be a good place to come and spend a summer day.  The dogs had a great time playing in the water.

Finally on Sunday, the weather was good enough so we went up to Saulty Creek in Buck's Pocket State Park to put the kayaks in the water before we leave Alabama.

Kay paddled way up stream, while I stayed here in this part of the creek to fish.

The stripped bass were not very big, about 6 to 13 inches.  But I did get 25 of them.  I only catch and release the fish.  It was one of my better days of fishing at this stop.

There were many strong tornadoes in this area last spring.  A lot of damage was done.  We saw a lot of trees were down and now dead.  Kay thought this was kind of a cool shot.
