Langston, Alabama
Sunset on the first evening we arrived.
Me getting the kayak ready to put into the lake. Kay is already out on the water. You can see the back of the camper in the background.
There was this green slimy moss growing all over this part of the lake. It made fishing very difficult. In fact I have not caught a single fish yet.
a look at one of the islands in the lake.
This is the view out the back window of the camper. Kay and I do like this resort. We plan on coming back some day.
We watched eagles nesting in the old tree on the island across the lake. This picture was taken with Kay's new camera that has a 14X zoom.
Another one of the beautiful sunsets.
Had to stop and take a picture of the cotton field.
We took a drive up to Little River Canyon National Preserve. It is located in the north eastern corner of Alabama. Maxwell and I at one of the overlooks. It was a really beautiful place.
Kay tromping through the woods. A lot of the leaves have fallen already, but the color is still great.
Another one of the many overlooks on the canyon road.
This is Mushroom Rock in the middle of the road.
Kay exploring more of the rock formations.
Lots of leaves on the ground. The dogs love to run through them.
With the truck on the road, you can see how big Mushroom rock is.
A view of the colors along the road in Little River Canyon.
We love to travel the back country roads where ever we stay.
Now you don't see too many of these emus in the woods of Alabama.
The other thing about driving the back country roads, is seeing stuff like this.
The deer were not afraid of Kay and the dogs getting close to them.
A view of Guntersville Lake from the State Park just south of the resort.
Max and Zoe pulling Kay up the hill.
Zoe with a very bad hair day. She will get a new look once we get to Athens, GA
Max is also very shaggy. The last time they have been to the groomer was in Denver.
High Falls Park on Town Creek. It is located just north of the campground.
I was standing at the edge of the falls when this picture was taken.
This is a great walking bridge over Town Creek
The gang on their way back across the bridge. We were really surprised to find this place. It was so peaceful. Got to walk down on the rocks under the bridge. They were very smooth and flat. Would be a good place to come and spend a summer day. The dogs had a great time playing in the water.
Finally on Sunday, the weather was good enough so we went up to Saulty Creek in Buck's Pocket State Park to put the kayaks in the water before we leave Alabama.
Kay paddled way up stream, while I stayed here in this part of the creek to fish.
The stripped bass were not very big, about 6 to 13 inches. But I did get 25 of them. I only catch and release the fish. It was one of my better days of fishing at this stop.
There were many strong tornadoes in this area last spring. A lot of damage was done. We saw a lot of trees were down and now dead. Kay thought this was kind of a cool shot.
Just some more fall leaves.
