Wyoming, Casper July 12 - 15

We decided to explore parts of Wyoming this summer that we haven't spent a lot of time in during past visits.  since Dan and Kathy were not going to be in Douglas this year we put Casper on our list.  We stayed at Casper East Campground.

River park in Casper.  Just checking out the Platte river to decide where we can kayak.

Lots of trains pass through Casper hauling coal.  This was taken at the River Park but we did have them go right by the campground too.

Seems like Kay hasn't gotten too many flower pictures in lately but thought this one was pretty.  Taken at the River park is Casper.

If you look closely there is a bee in the center.

The dogs liked the River Park.  Zoe's getting more and more used to the water.

Max was enjoying getting cooled off.

Dan and Kathy are back from their vacation early and came to Casper for dinner and shopping.  Zoe's not too sure about this new hairdo.

Dan and Zoe waiting for supper.

A shot of the truck and camper parked at Casper East campground.  It's pretty tight but since they were pull throughs it wasn't too bad and we're only here for 3 nights.

Sunsets were beautiful here.

Thought this old car and wagon frame made for a nice picture.
Saw it as we were out scouting for places to launch the kayaks.

Wyoming countryside.

We loved the run on the Platte river from about 10 miles southwest of Casper to the edge of town.

Marty putting in the river.

These next several pictures are some of the many Kay took as we floated down the Platte River.

The front of Kay's kayak.  What a great view she had.

What better thing to do on a nice day?  None that we can think of.

Love watching the birds take off of the water.  We startled up these pelicans.

Some of the wildlife on this trip

When I first came around the bend and saw these cows I was thinking they were caught in the fencing but it looks like they just wanted a drink.

They are building a bridge for a new road out here in the middle of nowhere.

Marty talking to one of the workers.  They said this would be a new by-pass for West Casper.

Almost at the end of the run.  Marty was wishing we had more days so that we could do it again.
I'm sure we'll be back someday to do it again.

Nebraska, Scottsbluff July 5 - 12

Scottsbluff, Nebraska is always on our summer route so that we can spend time with Kay's Dad as well as other family and friends.  The Riverside Zoo Campground in Scottsbluff is a great place to base.  It's nice and quiet except when the lions roar but we love that.

Francine and Orin are standing next to Orin's 59 Chevy hardtop.  We got to spend quite a bit of time with them this visit.  It was so awesome to have this time together.

Kay's Dad out for supper and a visit.
Marty loves the chance to get to mow Dad's lawn with his riding mower.

View looking SE from Dad's yard.

It's sad to see the place you grew up in such bad shape.  Sure have lots of great memories though.

View from the top of Scottsbluff National Monument.

Took the dogs for a walk on the Monument.  It was pretty hot that day so we didn't walk too far.

Our visit this year was sad because Kay's uncle Buzz passed away but we did get to see him before and were able to be here with family for the funeral.  This picture is of his daughter Cathy and his Great Grandson, Jett.

Here's Jett again with Kay's Aunt Carol.

Family lunch before the funeral.  From left to right is Patrick, uncle Buzz's son, John Edwards, Uncle Bob's grandson, Mike, Dan and Kathy.

One stop at Rosita's was in order.  This is their poncho'.  Love the chips and salsa here.

Outside Rosita's left to right is Mike, Dad, Kay and Dan.

Colorado, Greeley July 1 - 5

Family get together at Noreen's home in Greeley Colorado over the 4th of July holiday.  Brother Jim and his wife Bev decided to come for a visit so we had a small family reunion.  It was great to see everyone and what a good time we had.  Only could have been better if youngest brother, Richard and his wife Joyce could have been there too.  Hopefully next get together all the Moeller siblings can make it.  Some of the pictures in this blog are thanks to Jim, Marily, or Noreen.

Statues in a yard at Greeley.  So perfect for 4th of July celebration.

Bev's favorite place to visit while in Colorado is Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.  This picture we've stopped at McDonald's in Estes park for a quick snack before driving up to RMNP.

At the top of Trail Ridge Road in RMNP is the visitor Center.

View on the way to the top.

Not a lot of snow left but some on July 2nd.

We saw several elk in the park and then a good size herd in Loveland on the way back.

Jim and Bev at Mama Rose's restaurant in Estes.

It was a tough chose but we had a very nice dinner.  The company was even better though.

The Gavette kids at McDonald's

This visit has been very tough on the waistline.  This is the whole group enjoying an ice cream after lunch at McDonald's.  We're at a dairy outside of Greeley.  They make cheese here as well as ice cream.

Three of the Gavette kids at the dairy.  From left to right, Evie, Toby and Haden.

As you can imagine we got in several games of poker.  Most nights the 4 siblings stayed up and played till 2 or 3 in the AM
